About the Group

 

ALTA is a registered charity that aims to relieve the suffering and distress of liver transplant patients and their families before, during and after transplantation.  It provides support, information and such other facilities as the trustees deem necessary, with the object of improving their conditions of life.  It was formed in 1991 by patients who recognised the need for a support group of this kind.

 

ALTA visits patients undergoing Assessment and Transplant to provide support.

 

 

ALTA provides emergency assistance to those affected by transplant.

 

 

ALTA funds relaxation therapies for patients suffering from stress.

 

 

ALTA purchases equipment that improves the quality of life of patients and families when they are in the Transplant Unit.

 

 

ALTA produces a regular free newsletter and a website to keep members up to date with the latest news and developments.

 

 

Subject to the availability of funds, ALTA provides support for the liver transplant patients attending the British Transplant Games.
